Whatever Blows Your Hair Back

Pick any tune that sparks a wild memory, reminds you of something epic from the past year, or just flat-out makes you feel amazing. If it blows your hair back, it’s in!

OK musos. A thing a did last year the blow my dress up (or is it hair back?) is to spend more time getting to know the music of Sara Bareilles. She is a remarkable song writer, poet, musician, and singer. There is soooooo much depth in what she writes and sings. Tonight my choice is an older work of hers that absolutely makes my happy.  Enjoy!

Pray for peace, enough food and health for all people.

The Coldplay’s song We Pray from their album “ Moon Music” is about people from different cultures and continents that all pray for the same things. The artists invited by Chris Martin for this song: Elyanna( Palestinian/Chilean), Burna Boy(Nigerian) Little Sims (English/Nigerian Wrapper)Tini (Argentinian) and Coldplay

Whenever I need a lift, this number by the Dooby brothers does it. Gets the feet and soul moving. One of the great guitar rather tracks of all time.

I discovered this artist during 2024. I just love his swagger and soul. Enjoy!

I love the way swing makes me feel, and this particular one seems apt:

“The Chambers surname is English, with Anglo-Norman heritage. It comes from the French ‘Chambre’ (Chamber) and is first seen in records as ‘de la Chambre’ (of the chamber). It would have been given to someone who served in private chambers, or someone who worked in an exchequer room, then passed to their families.”

So that would be me ☺

This song absolutely just does it for me. I feel free and I dance like nobody is watching. I feel free spirited every time I listen to this it just keeps me moving. Hope you all enjoy it like I do.

I had to change my song coz it was a song I’ll use for the upcoming music evening …

One thing that makes me happy is music from my youth. I’m sure we all have memories that come flooding back when a specific song is played.

In my case, I have ABSOLUTELY no recollection where this song was played and what it meant at the time, but I just loved it. Maybe it was because “Love Will Keep Us Together”, their top-selling single of 1975, was being played on the radios everywhere. I was 3 at the time. Who knows!

On Sunday I watched a documentary on
Avicii. I had heard of him and understood how the youth love the concerts, great beat and perfect for dancing. A talented young man swallowed up in fame, loosing his freedom and not coping with the massive pressure. I have chosen the tribute concert. Enjoy

I was introduced to Bryan Ferry and Roxy music by Malcolm Gooding on his Saturday late night music programme way back in 1973.
This was new, this was exciting. Rock music had become an art form.

Sorry Hun … I know you and I found this one together … but hey you didn’t use it first, so … you “lose” it.

This song is dedicated to my Bestie! Her and I found each other a month after I walked out of my old life and as single moms, that never got to be teenagers thanks to strict parents and psycho husbands … we found our “teens” at 30. This song embodies how we got to live on our kid-free “weekends off”.

What’s really cool is that Francheska Pastor of Bad Seed Rising was merely 18 when she debuted this song!

I have been thinking about my taste in music and I think I might have some sort of fetish for covers.

Anyway, I digress. The real thing that blows my hair back (if such a thing is even possible) is a bit of metal mixed into a classic masterpiece.

Not all will love this but then again, it is about my hair being blown back.

You all know how much I love a beautiful voice with full orchestration. This is my favourite version of “Hallelujah” and it has a special place on my heart ❤

This song symbolizes all the Chains I have broken because they needed to be broken.

AND it’s a cover ????
