The Waterboys – The Whole of the Moon

The Waterboys are a British-Irish folk-rock band formed in Edinburgh in 1983 by Scottish musician Mike Scott. The band’s membership, past and present, has been composed mainly of musicians from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England. Mike Scott has remained as the only constant member throughout the band’s career.

Who Painted The Moon(Live) – Nianell

This South African, Namibian born artist wrote and released this song in 2002 and achieved international platinum status. In 2003 it was covered by a New Zealand lass called Hayley Westernra who also reached international platinum status with her album ‘Pure’ reaching No 1 on UK classic charts, selling 2m copies, this album being the fastest-selling international début classical album to date. Smash Mouth – Walkin’ On The Sun

Smash Mouth’s first major single Walkin’ on the Sun was released in July 1997. The guitarist Greg Camp described the song as a social and racial battle cry, a “why can’t we all get along?” song. Plus it’s funky, so there’s that too. 😊

Fly Me To The Moon (Remastered) · Frank Sinatra · Count Basie And His Orchestra

My choice is gonna shock some. It was recorded by Frank before I was born. It includes the Moon, stars, Jupiter and Mars.

Train – Drops of Jupiter

My choice today is the rock band Train. Train is a rock band from San Francisco formed in 1993 with a lineup that included original members:
Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford, Scott Underwood and Charlie Collin.
The band achieved mainstream success with their debut album Train, which was released in 1998 with the hit “Meet Virginia”

Lady Gaga – Venus

Unlike my usual choices I have chosen “something completely different”. Lady Gaga singing Venus. I do hope that you enjoy the song and the “production”.

Halie Loren – Moon River

Tonight, I suggest you sit back, close your eyes and enjoy one of the great romantic songs of our time.

“Moon River” is a song composed by the great musicians Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer, and originally performed by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It won 1962 Oscars for Best Original Song and Best Original Score, and 1962 Grammy Awards for Record and Song of the Year. The album also stayed on Billboard’s album charts for over 90 weeks!
Many artists have covered this song, maybe most notably Andy Williams who first recorded it in 1962 and performed it at the Academy Awards ceremony that year.
This type of beautiful music and arrangement speaks to my soul. I grew up with this song and it remains one of my most favourite songs of all time.
My choice tonight is by a favourite artist, Halie Loren, who does true justice to Audrey Hepburn’s version in the movie and the magic of Mancini. Halie Loren is a 35-year-old American Jazz singer and songwriter from Alaska. She launched her first album in 2004.

MONSTERS OF THE COSMOS – Symphony of Science

This space theme was very distressing for me. I ended up with a song that is more about monsters than it is about soothing music, as we are accustomed to on this channel.

Regardless, here is Morgan Freeman and a choir of scientists singing to you about the science and freakiness of black holes.

Frances Forever – Space Girl

I couldn’t find a video with visuals.
Kallan helped me choose this one ❤️

Van Morrison – Moondance, Kenwood House UK 2008

With a musical career covering over 50 years, Van the Man, as a singer, writer and musician has inspired many young artists. Here he is with Moondance (I have his autograph)

One of those special songs that got me through college. Poetry considering the current state of the human race.
