Police Business

Any song where the lyrics or title (not artist name) include a word or words that relate to police business, like arrest, jail, prison, detective, murder, theft, warden, steal, etc. When you play your song, you must point out the word or words.

Richard

I thought it was time for a classical diversion. An opera singer, full orchestra, choir, lyrics, emotions – the full toot. Here is Samuel Ramey singing “Old Man River” from Showboat. Sadly he gets a little drunk and lands in jail.

Wilfred

Here is a little love song. It shows both the fear and appreciation for having a love in one’s life, safe in your arms, and at the same time also expressing fear that it will all be taken away some day. Perhaps sooner than later.

The sirens in the song refer to police, ambulance or firetruck sirens. Those usually mean disaster for somebody. They also seem to be increaseing lately. More people are possibly suffering tragedy and heartbreak.

In the lyrics Eddie Vedder is appreciating the fact the sirens aren’t headed his way, yet fearful that one day, he and his love might be the reason for the sirens.

Policeman’s jewellery, aka chains, handcuffs, and shackles have always been important instruments of incarceration. In this sampling from good ol’ Joe… there are some who have hearts incarcerated unfairly and seek parole … others have been set free and like “lifers” seek to be incarcerated again. Enjoy the classic.

Deborah

Having gathered together a list of songs acceptable for this theme, I kept going back to this one even though I have played it before, because it’s just so fabulous and so blooming sexy.
Sorry not sorry.

Mac Davis is a lyricist and song writer having written a few songs made famous by Elvis. One of those is “In the getto”.
He learns to steal.
He learns to fight.
He buys a gun and steals a car.

Esther

Adapted by Guy Trosper from a story written by Nedrick Young. The film tells the story of Vince Everett (Presley) a convict who learnt to play the guitar while in prison and later became a star following his release.

Arno

Not much to say

Paul

Never heard this song before. Has all the aspects and more of Police BeezNeez.

Haha. See what I did there. Sting. Police. LOL

Chrisna

My song today. Way too pretty for prison.

Lynda

My song tonight says it all in the title and lyrics 🎶

Sue

The song is about the binding love that a father has for his daughter that he would go to jail for and even for her daughter if the need arose. As a younger daughter of a doting dad, I can relate to this.

Karen

Here’s my song:
The lyrics tell the story!!

Geraldine

A man ends up in jail after murdering his cheating wife. In jail, he earns the job of looking after Ol’ Red, the prison dog.
The man plans his escape which Ol’Red plays an important role in.

Richard Marx – Hazard

So here we go with a hazardous song about a horrendous crime. Or was it? One of my favourites from this singer, and also the first song I heard from him. Enjoy!
