Start date – Wednesday 6 May 2026
Peeuw-Peeuw, COPS & ROBBERS
You get ONE song only.
But you must choose your side:
👮 COPS – the good guys
Doing the right thing, justice, rules, order, playing it safe, keeping it clean
OR
💰 ROBBERS – the bad side
Rebels, chaos, bad decisions, crime, getting caught, jail, running wild, or going out in a blaze of glory
⸻
Choose based on:
* your mood on the day
* the song you feel like playing
* the life choices you’re currently making 👀 🤣
* or just the vibe you want to bring

Somewhere Over The Rainbow
My song is about cops saving a child during a cops-and-robbers shootout.
The suffering, pain, and loss caused by crossfire and stray bullets due to gang violence in our country are truly devastating—especially in areas like Mitchell’s Plain and the Cape Flats.
In moments like these, it would be such a gift if music could help block out even a fraction of that trauma, offering a sense of peace and escape.
This scene in one of my favourite movies, Face/Off, captures this contrast so poignantly.
This beautiful version of Over the Rainbow sung by Olivia Newton-John adds to that emotional depth. She shared a special friendship with John Travolta, who plays one of the lead roles in the film.

Johnny Cash – Folsom Prison Blues
Music tonight is a long time favourite of Field Marshall Greaves.
In the desert in ’41, he always had the officers play this at the start of the Sunday church service.
Not your typical Holy Communion song, but the troops loved it. Even the Germans we held as prisoners.
From a man who was arrested 7 times, but never spend more than a night or three in jail, come a famous song from a 1968 concert at Folsom prison.
You shoot a man in Reno, it’s police business…

The Ballad of Jesse James
Cops and Robbers. Clint Eastwood, Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill movies. Peeuw-Peeuw, trigger happy guys with wide-brimmed hats. Heat and dust, sweaty, dirty, piece of grass in their teeth, riding their poor horses around. Cold nights sitting around a fire, eating beans (Wait, what? Beans next to a fire? How was that not a safety hazard! Well …. not that they cared …….).
Rocking up in shanty wooden-built towns with a saloon, grabbing a hot a bath (and maybe a $2 “gal”), a shave, and a bottle of whisky. Shooting some dude for show, maybe robbing a bank or stealing gold. That’s the basis of most of them.
There were a few real bad-asses back in that REAL era. One of those had many songs written about him it seems, including this one.
