Cars

Your song must include the car in the lyrics ,not necessarily in the title.

Like Ford, Cadillac, Mustang, Mini etc.)

Song MUST refer to a car, not a person or anything like Henry Ford, or Mike Cooper, or Austin Powers ….. I think you get the drift ….

An old classic with a great lineup of musicians.

No, this song did not make the Rolling Stone top one hundred songs list.
No I am not trying to raise the bar on cultural content.
Yes it does meet the criteria.
Yes it should make you smile.

Tonight I’m going with the obvious choice.

It’s one of the perks of being one of the first on the Spinny Wheel.
I’ve also gone with the origional because no remix or cover does it justice.

The reasons for my choice:

1) Aretha Franklin is one of my all-time greats
2) This song is one of my best “cheer-me-up” happy songs and can fix any less than perfect mood
3) I have a passion (maybe slight obsession?) with classic American Muscle Cars (also a selection of other cars with a V8)
4) Driving in a Cadillac on a highway is a bucket list item for me (even if it’s pink)
5) It’s damn cool to dance to!

Enjoy!!!!

The song fits the theme by title but seems open to a number of interpretations. Just enjoy her lovely voice and some “interesting” visuals.

No one’s meaner than a Cortina owner.

In this song, Rihanna revs up the motor vehicle metaphors in a sexually charged song loaded with innuendo.

Song lyrics

I’ve been looking for a driver who is qualified
So if you think that you’re the one step into my ride
I’m a fine-tuned supersonic speed machine
Got a sunroof top and a gangster lean
So if you feel me, let me know, know, know
Come on now, what you waiting for, for, for?
My engine’s ready to explode, explode, explode
So start me up and watch me go, go, go, go
Get you where you wanna go, if you know what I mean
Got a ride that’s smoother than a limousine
Can you handle the curves? Can you run all the lights?
If you can, baby boy, then we can go all night
‘Cause I’m zero to sixty in 3.5
Baby, you got the keys
Now shut up and drive, drive, drive (drive)
Shut up and drive, drive, drive (drive)
I got class like a ’57 Cadillac
Got overdrive with a whole lot of boom in the back
You look like you can handle what’s under my hood
You keep saying that you will, boy, I wish you would
So if you feel me, let me know, know, know
Come on now, what you waiting for, for, for?
My engine’s ready to explode, explode, explode
So start me up and watch me go, go, go, go
Get you where you wanna go, if you know what I mean
Got a ride that’s smoother than a limousine
Can you handle the curves? Can you run all the lights?
If you can, baby boy, then we can go all night
‘Cause I’m zero to sixty in 3.5
Baby, you got the keys
Now shut up and drive, drive, drive (drive)
Shut up and drive, drive, drive (drive)
‘Cause your Maybach ain’t got what I got
Get it, get it, don’t stop, it’s a sure shot
And your Ferrari, huh, boy, I’m sorry
I ain’t even worried, so step inside
And ride, ride, ride, ride
Ride, ride, ride, ride
Ride, ride, ride, ride
Ride, ride, ride, ride
(Shut up and drive, drive, drive, drive)
(Shut up and drive, drive, drive, drive)
Drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive (oh)
Get you where you wanna go, if you know what I mean
Got a ride that’s smoother than a limousine
Can you handle the curves? Can you run all the lights?
If you can, baby boy then we can go all night
‘Cause I’m zero to sixty in 3.5
Baby, you got the keys
Now shut up and drive

My song for tonight sorry not much written I am at the hospital with my grandchildren they have swine flu ????

Playful song. I like the guitar work, also like the Maserati that does 300 km/h.

First video is the song, second is Joe talking about the song. Also fun but optional.

Ignore the Spanish subtitles, unless foreign language turns you on.

Hello musos! My song today is a wonderfully happy, fun song by the Stuart Reece Band, a Cape Town group. If this doesn’t bring a smile to your dial, you’ve got a hole in your soul. (Note the deeply meaningful poetry). The car in the song is one of the most iconic cars of all time – the Cadillac!

The Beach Boys – Fun, Fun, Fun

My sing along son is nothing but Fun fun fun!! (Well you just gave it away, idiot!) ???? ???? ???? ????

Cadillac Ranch is a sculpture showing ten Cadillac automobiles with their hoods buried in the ground. Springsteen wrote the song and used Cadillac Ranch as a metaphor for his theme; that these once elite cars are now expendable.
