I love this joyful song, but it’s extra special because I have such happy memories of listening to Stan Katz playing it every Friday morning on the “Morning Zoo” on 702.

The show was hilarious, I had a huge crush on Stan, it was 1987.

Fall Out Boy – Beat It (MTV Version) ft. John Mayer

This song is the reason I came up with this theme. I’ve always loved Michael Jackson’s “Beat it” and it’s been a ‘makes my soul smile’ song when thinking of overcoming the bullies in life. I remember hearing it for the first time in college and it became one of my “power songs”. Add to the song that I really like Fall Out Boy’s sound and for good measure, a music video that genuinely made me laugh … it was the perfect combo. PS: My favourite part is the Sensei teaching his students how to fight a special Michael Jackson martial arts style. Enjoy!

Humour is after all a great coping mechanism.
This performance is not dissimilar to the one Errol and I put on while incarcerated in Stalag 17 just before our great escape.
