A song about any creature from the animal kingdom, land, sea or air, wild or domesticated. The song must mention the animal eg. ‘How much is that doggie in the window’.

So I went for what made me go “YEAH!!!” with my choice, and MAN were there some pearlers on my list from Elton and his crocodile antics to Katy and her damn dark horses and ROARING lions and tigers, to that Boy called George, a Rastafarian with African Buffaloes, and even the guys who claimed MY NAME IS RIO, and more… But this song for whatever reason made me go YEAH!!!!!!!!

As my more conventional choices have gone or been mentioned, this is my “off the wall” choice.
Dog Days are the hot sultry days of Summer, historically the period following the rising of Sirius, the Dogstar. This is connected in mythology with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad days and bad luck. ( Perhaps for us, Covid and 10 days of rain!! Thanks to Oom Squirrel at least the alcohol Dog Days are over!!!!)

As Arno is away cycling, he asked me to post his song and introduction today. He says ‘When I was at school there was a girl in my matric class that I liked a lot. But as I’ve always been a shy person I never tried asking her for a date, not even for the matric farewell. For some reason, she always called me dragon or rather, Draak (Afrikaans). Whenever I hear my song for tonight I wonder what happened to her and what might have been.’
