Strings attached
Any song where the use of string type instruments are sort of prominent. Not exclusively, just as long as strings are featured to some degree.
OR
For the story tellers out there, looking at you Arno…
A song that reminds you of, was involved in, or describes an incident in your life that turned out to have strings attached.
The story based song does not need to have strings anywhere in the production of the song, only the story needs to have strings attached.
You can, of course, combine both options into one if your creativity gets the better of you.

The king of Kanun – Daly Triki – Stanga
The qanun (kanun, ganoun or kanoon), Pronounced (well, whichever way you want to!) is an Arabic string instrument played either solo, or more often as part of an ensemble, in much of the Arab East, and Arab Maghreb region aka North Africa, later it reached West Africa, Central Asia due to Arab migration. It was also common in ancient Armenia, and Greece. It has between 72 and 80 strings (yoh, that’s a lot of strings attached man!)
Why did I choose it?
Because:
– It fits the theme
– It sounds cool
– It LOOKS cool
– And mostly, because I like DOEF DOEF music and this dude jams a choon so kief like – and I smaak it stukkend, bru!

The Brothers Comatose & AJ Lee – “Harvest Moon” (by Neil Young)
In an effort to move away from long legged fiddlers, I’m going to a song that should be fondly remembered by the more ‘senior’ members of our group. In 1992, Neil Young released this beautiful, slow shuffle, close dance song, that was just made for romance. Ah. Such memories. Harvest Moon, in this version by The Brothers Comatose, is all about the strings, but as true as the original to slow and close. Enjoy!

Bryan Adams – Run To You (Live at Bush Hall)
What I love about this song is: It is being played on a stringed instrument, the back story to the song has a “strings attached” element to it, in a situation that, well, shouldn’t have any strings, but alas … I’m pretty sure in the background of this story there was a “no strings attached” discussion and then there’s the iconic voice of Bryan Adams with a brilliant rhythm. It’s one of my top 100 – what’s not to love?
