Storytelling
This theme has one very simple instruction – your song must contain or be a story.

Richard Marx – Hazard
Hazard” is a song written, produced, and performed by American singer-songwriter Richard Marx. The song is about a woman named Mary who mysteriously disappears and a social pariah who is accused of orchestrating Mary’s disappearance, despite claiming to be innocent. The song’s music video follows this plot.

James Blunt – Monsters
James Blunt’s father Charles, himself a kidney donor, was diagnosed with stage four chronic kidney disease in 2019. Blunt wrote “Monsters” to “express his feelings about his father and his illness, almost as if it’s a touching farewell to his father”. … Charles Blount (correct spelling) appears in the video with his son.
“It’s an incredibly emotional song and one that tells him he’s much more than just a father – he’s my friend and I love him dearly,” Blunt said.

Hallelujah (Just Duet Version)
I have chosen a well-known song. The story is familiar to all of you. However, it is sung as a duet by a father and daughter duo. They live in Johannesburg and have a growing following here and overseas. The father is a personal trainer and voice coach and the daughter is a young schoolgirl. Enjoy this version by Adrian and Emma-Jean Gilliard.

Bob Carlisle – Butterfly Kisses
Bob Carlisle wrote this song for his daughter, Brooke. He wrote it after looking through some family photos and realizing that Brooke, who was about to turn 16, would be leaving home in a few years.
‘Butterfly Kisses’ is not so much a song about fatherhood. It’s more a song about gratitude and imperfection. It’s also a song about the appreciation of time well spent. As with any good thing, there is a bittersweet sadness in letting go. I hoped to capture in this song the beauty of the relationship between father and daughter as well as its inevitable change.

The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies – The Last Goodbye – Billy Boyd
I really like this song and all it sums up. I am a big fan of the Lord of The Rings books and movies.
This song was the closing credits for the last movie in the Hobbit trilogy. It is all a very epic story, for me at least.
Here is the write up from the interwebs:
Scottish actor and musician Billy Boyd, who played Peregrin Took in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, wrote and recorded this tune for the end credits of The Battle of the Five Armies. The Peter Jackson-directed movie is the final part of his six-film journey based on the J.R.R. Tolkien classic novels Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. “We focused on not just the final instalment, but more so on this ten-year epic adventure,” Boyd told Billboard magazine. “A song to sum up the six movies.

A Boy Named Sue: Johnny Cash
I just loved this song!
I’d never heard it before and had quite a giggle while listening to it while working. The quality of the song wasn’t great so I checked the lyric version and laughed even harder.
What a story, but what a different point of view it showed up indeed.
Here’s a live clip for those who know the song. For those who don’t, there’s a lyric version. Enjoooooy!
