HAEVN – Throw Me a Line
First a disclaimer: No Paulie – this isn’t a fishing line he’s asking you to throw him!!
Now that that’s out of the way, I have real pleasure in introducing what has fast become one of my favourite finds. Haevn is a Dutch band from Amsterdam, Netherlands, founded in 2015 by singer-songwriter Marijn van der Meer and composer Jorrit Kleijnen. I’m thoroughly enjoying Jorrit’s compositions which have a wonderful “Indie classical” edge to them. I loved watching Jorrit conducting his musical piece with such passion in the music video. Marjin’s rich voice and range well compliments the musical style and I also take pleasure in that he is particularly easy on the eyes. Definitely one to listen to on the “good system” Errol and they’re on Apple Music, Wilfred.

Cliff Richard & Hank Marvin – Move It (The Royal Variety Performance, 25.11.1995)
For those who didn’t get to see Cliff and Hank at the Colosseum in 1961 – here’s a taste of what you missed. Over thirty years later here they are at a royal performance.

Van Halen – Jump
Van Halen’s biggest hit, released in December 1983 spent five weeks at number one in the Hot 100, and brings back fond memories of my perm 😊
Wilfred
Bruce Springsteen – Waitin’ On A Sunny Day
Waiting is probably a very passive verb, but still…
This is my neighbour’s favourite song…whether they like it or not 🤣
The energy and passion in this performance just blows me away. Motivating words. When times are hard and things are looking a tad dodgy, stick this song on. Suddenly everything has more perspective.

Hard To Say I’m Sorry by Peter Cetera
“Hard to Say Goodbye” is something we can all relate to. I chose this version because as per usual I looked for voice, orchestration and visual components. Enjoy Peter Cetera in his mature years.

Shut Up and Dance – WALK THE MOON
This song is a special one for me.
If we (the kids and I) are feeling a bit low/stressed or just need a little pick me up, we play this song and dance like crazy people together.
Enjoy 💞

Leonard Cohen – Dance Me To The End Of Love (Live in London)
From Rolling Stones Magazine:
Leonard Cohen, the hugely influential singer and songwriter whose work spanned five decades, died at the age of 82 in November 2016. He was the poet of brokenness, and that brokenness was always there. It proved central to his music and to his body of poetry and literature. Nobody else ever mastered all three disciplines as well as Cohen.
It followed Cohen into a Zen monastery, where years of contemplation and prayer were sometimes as agonizing as the horror that had driven him there. It even appeared among the final lines of the final song on his final record, released weeks before he died in November 2016: “It’s over now, the water and the wine/We were broken then, but now we’re borderline.”
My own love affair with his music started in the early 1970’s and continues. I do not believe that another musical poet of his caliber exists. Here he is at his famous 2008 return concert at the O2 arena in London, singing ‘Dance Me to the End of Love’.

PRIME CIRCLE – Breathing
This is an Ode to my late best friend who took his own life last year due to depression caused by covid and other things. This was our favourite band of all time and this verb is so apt for this theme and it also reminds me of my and Liezels buddy. Enjoy!
