The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies – The Last Goodbye – Billy Boyd

It was difficult to choose from my top 3 selection but I loved this movie so this one got top billing…… Enjoy.

Billy Boyd started his career appearing in Taggart (1996), The Soldier’s Leap (1998), and Urban Ghost Story (1998). He also appeared in the 7:84 Theatre Company Scotland production of Caledonia Dreaming by David Greig in 1997.

His breakthrough and most notable acting role was Peregrin “Pippin” Took in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, from 2001 to 2003.

Boyd wrote the melody for and sang the song “The Edge of Night”, which was featured in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The song was later used over the trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014), the final film in the Hobbit trilogy. Boyd also wrote and performed the song “The Last Goodbye”, which is played during the ending credits of the film.

Alison Krauss & Union Station – Goodbye Is All We Have

99 music industry award nominations. 56 Awards. 27 Grammy awards (3rd most ever for an artist). My song tonight is by one of my most favourite artists, Alison Krauss, and her band Union Station performing ‘Goodbye is All We Have’. Alison is a Country Bluegrass singer. Union Station are the music and voices of the ‘Soggy Bottom Boys’ in George Clooney’s fabulous 2000 movie ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ when they sang I am a man of constant sorrow. Enjoy!

The Last Farewell ~ Roger Whittaker

I am unsure why, but this song just grabs all of me and gives it a big squeeze. Hope it does the same to you, could be a tear of joy for the tune or a tear of sadness for the story.

Petula Clark – Kiss Me Goodbye

“Kiss me Goodbye” by Petula Clark is set with these beautiful visuals from the iconic film “Casablanca” starring Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart. If you have never seen it do look for it. Such a great love story. Petula Clark’s career began during Worl War II as a child artist. She became a great British solo artist in the 1960s and was still performing in the 2000s. She is now 88 and her career spans from 1939 to the present. Enjoy!!

Roxette – The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye

Taylor Swift – Everything Has Changed ft. Ed Sheeran

This 2012 pop song is about wanting to get to know a new partner better. The narrator realizes that everything changed with a greeting, and she replays their introduction and their time shared together so far in her mind. She recognizes that this is the beginning of something beautiful.

Hello-Evanescence

My song, although entitled HELLO, is more of a GOODBYE ……………
And of course, it’s my all-time favourite brunette!!

Amy Lee was only six years old when she was told at school that her three-year-old sister had died. The song takes the perspective of a child who doesn’t fully grasp the concept of death. The young narrator’s inner voice calls out “hello” as a way to self-comfort.

Amy Lee was at school when she found out, hence the line, “Playground school bell rings again, rain clouds come to play again.” What she’s saying in the song is what she felt when she found out, and since she was so young, she didn’t fully understand the concept of death.

Its deep and meaningful …….

Hello – Adele

Lionel Richie – Hello

This is my choice as the last song for this theme! I still have this double LP and wish I could still play it, but don’t have a turntable. Will have to bring it along to the next music Eve to play on Errol’s! Hope you enjoy it as Lionel was one of my favourite artists in the ’80s.
